Vancouver police issued a warning about a man released from custody today who is believed to be a public risk because of possible local gang connections.

The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) stated in a news release today (September 3) that on August 14, Metro Vancouver Transit Police spotted and stopped a stolen vehicle in Surrey.

During inspection of the vehicle, officers found a loaded handgun.

Transit police recommended four firearm-related charges for 39-year-old Ronald Campbell of Cranbrook.

Campbell was released from police custody today on court-ordered conditions.

As investigators believe that Campbell is involved in the Lower Mainland gang conflict, the VPD is warning the public that anyone who associates with Campbell is at heightened risk of violence.
