For the second time in two days, the B.C. Prosecution Service has announced that a police officer is charged with a criminal offence.

Today, it involved Vancouver Cst. Riley Emerson Robert Wiens, who faces one count of assault.

It came in connection with an on-duty incidence on March 20, 2021.

Wiens's first appearance is scheduled on August 15 in Vancouver Provincial Court.

On June 29, the B.C. Prosecution Service revealed that a Surrey Mountie, Cpl. Peter Leckie, was facing seven counts of breach of trust and two counts of obtaining computer service by fraud. He's been in Surrey Provincial Court on July 29.

None of the allegations against Wiens or Leckie has been proven in court.
