There's been yet another stranger assault in Vancouver's downtown core.

Police released video today of a March 1 attack on a 61-year-old man after he entered Granville Station.

He was pushed from behind as he was walking down a flight of stairs.

Police are seeking the public's help in identifying the suspect.

“The victim suffered minor injuries and was treated on scene by paramedics,” Const. Tania Visintin said in a VPD news release.

The suspect is described as an Indigenous man in his 40s with short black hair and a slim build.

At the time of the attack, the suspect was wearing a Montreal Expos baseball cap, a black rain jacket with a white logo, dark blue jeans, and black running shoes.

Video: A security camera at the transit station captured images of the assault.

Even though police have been highlighting unprovoked assaults in downtown Vancouver, the actual crime rate has fallen since the last non-pandemic year of 2019.
