Police say they're growing "increasingly concerned for public safety" at the encampment on Hastings Street.

Today in a news release, the VPD stated that four men are facing "multiple charges" in connection with the police seizure of weapons on Sunday (August 21) morning.

According to the VPD, two guns, including a loaded shotgun, were discovered inside a tent near East Hastings and Carrall streets.

“Violence against the public and against our officers is on the rise throughout the Downtown Eastside, and the proliferation of guns in the encampment increases the risk to everyone,” Sgt. Steve Addison said in a news release.

A 40-year-old Vancouver man, a 23-year-old Burnaby man, and two Surrey men in their 20s are scheduled to be back in court in October.
