Vancouver police shoot armed suspect in 900 block of Granville; "multiple people" sent to hospital

      Vancouver police have tweeted that an armed suspect was shot in the 900 block of Granville Street late last night.

      According to police, "multiple" people are in hospital with serious injuries, including the suspect.

      This area is in the heart of the Granville Entertainment District, which is crowded with people on weekends.

      Police said that there is now no risk to public safety.

      "More information will be released when it is available," the VPD stated.

      Update

      Vancouver police said on August 7 that the suspect was shot and injured while holding a machete. He allegedly attacked four people in a rooming house. They're in hospital with "life-altering injuries". More information is available here.
