Vancouver real estate: condo bought over list price on January 1 as New Year’s Day sales start 2021 market

      While other people were probably still in pajamas, buyers rang in 2021 with home purchases on January 1.

      In Vancouver, a couple of strata properties changed hands on the first day of the New Year.

      One was a bedroom plus den unit at the Atelier condo building at 833 Homer Street.

      Unit 1807, a 527-square-foot apartment, went over the RE/MAX Select Properties listing price of $599,000.

      The 18th floor unit with views of downtwon went for $638,000, or the equivalent of $1,211 per square foot.

      The other January 1, 2020 deal took place at the Fairview Place, a townhouse complex at 1100 West 6th Avenue.

      Corner unit F7 sold for $775,000, or the equivalent of $741 per square foot for the two-bedroom, two-bath property.

      RE/MAX Select Realty listed the 1,046-square-foot townhouse near Granville Island for an original asking price of $799,000.

      RE/MAX Select Properties sold townhouse corner unit F7 for $775,000.

      Outside Vancouver, a buyer picked up a rancher house at 12555 264 Street in Maple Ridge on January 1.

      The seven-bedroom, seven-bath home sold for $2,230,000, which is the original asking price.

      RE/MAX All Points Realty listed the property on January 1, and sold on the same day.

      Real-estate sites Zealty.ca and fisherly.com tracked the New Year’s Day transactions.
