There were several more rallies today in B.C. to show support for the people of Ukraine.

In Victoria, they lined Douglas Street.

In Vancouver, people gathered in Jack Poole Plaza where Mayor Kennedy Stewart was among those in attendance.

"From aid to refugee settlement, we are ready to do everything in our power," Stewart tweeted.

The rallies came as Russia intensified air attacks on residential areas in Ukrainian cities.

The aerial bombardment led to another call from Ukrainian foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba for NATO to help Ukraine create a no-fly zone over his country.

"Help us protect our people from Russian barbarians!" Kuleba tweeted. "Help us close the sky. Provide us with combat aircraft. Do something!"

U.S. secretary of state Anthony Blinken told the media today that it's willing to support allies that transfer planes to the Ukrainians.

Blinken also said that the U.S. and Europe are considering banning Russian oil imports.

Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau flew to the U.K. where he will meet British prime minister Boris Johnson and Netherlands prime minister Mark Rutte on March 7.
