Burnaby Mayor Mike Hurley played bass and backing vocals.

Punk musician and now Burnaby councillor Joe Keithley did guitars and vocals.

Together, the two first-term politicians recorded a song written by Keithley as a tribute to racial harmony.

“I wrote 'You Won't Stand Alone' as an anthem to celebrate diversity and about how we must all stand together against the scourge of racism,” Keithley told the Georgia Straight.

Before politics, many knew Keithley as Joey Shithead, founder and frontman of the punk band DOA.

DOA drummer Paddy Duddy accompanied Hurley and Keithley in the song’s video shot at city hall, Deer Lake, and Burnaby Lake.
