A 17-year-old female is feeling traumatized but did not sustain serious physical injuries after being assaulted on the transit system.

An agitated man punched and kneed her in the head on a bus headed toward Newton Exchange on April 1 just before 2 p.m.

The suspect is described as being of South Asian ancestry. He disembarked at 152nd Street and 84th Avenue in Surrey.

He's believed to be between 30 and 40 years old, about 5'8", with a medium build and a bald head.

“Everyone has the right to arrive at their transit destination safely, and without fear of being attacked. Therefore, this unprovoked assault by a stranger is being taken extremely seriously," Transit Police Const. Amanda Steed said in a news release. "Our detectives have exhausted all investigative avenues available to them and are now appealing to the public for help, so that an arrest can be made.”
