VPD catches thief after out-of-country homeowner sees burglary on security camera
A home-surveillance security system paid off for a West Side resident recently.
An October 16 Vancouver Police Department bulletin noted that police received a call from a West Side neighbourhood about an in-progress break-in.
It turned out that a neighbour notified the cops after getting a call from the home's resident, who was out of the country and had seen someone inside their home while checking their home-security camera.
When police arrived, the intruder was still inside, but he fled on foot after leaving via the garage. A police dog soon brought him down a "short distance away", the report noted.
"He was arrested for break-and-enter and possession of break-in tools, and taken to jail," the bulletin concluded.
