Vancouver police say a 37-year-old man is in custody in connection with a targeted double shooting in East Vancouver on May 18.

Carleton Stevens of Surrey is charged with one count of attempted murder and one count of possession of ammunition or a firearm contrary to a prohibition order.

The gunfire took place at a home above a commercial venue on Industrial Avenue near Scotia Street.

According to a VPD news release, a 31-year-old female is in serious but stable condition after being shot.

On May 18, VPD spokesperson, Cst. Jason Doucette  told reporters that she was in the third trimester of a pregnancy and she lost the child.

He also said that this did not appear to be related to gang activity.

A 23-year-old Langley man who was also shot is recovering from his injury.

Stevens was arrested around 8 p.m. last night near the corner of Fraser Highway and 154A Avenue in Surrey.

Police anticipate that more criminal charges will be laid.
