The founder of a Vancouver-based social media management platform has announced he is departing from his position as CEO.

Ryan Holmes, who launched Hootsuite in 2008, told the Financial Post today (November 5) that although he is stepping aside, he will continue to serve as executive chairman.

The company will begin a search for a new CEO.

Hootsuite's digital service provides a dashboard user interface for managing and posting content to social networks, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and more.

The company has offices in Toronto, New York City, Mexico City, Paris, London, Rome, Milan, Buchrest, Hamburg, and Sydney.

Back on April 30, the company reportedly laid off over 100 people. The company issued a statement explaining that it was undergoing “organizational changes in order to drive greater alignment with our growing company’s strategic priorities that best serve our customers".

In other recent news from the company, Hootsuite and security company Proofpoint announced on October 28 the launch of a real-time compliance verification feature. The new feature will alert users to common compliance policy violations.
