As consumers increasingly demand food chain transparency, widespread labour abuses are being documented in the agricultural industry. BC's almost 10,000 mostly immigrant and migrant farm workers are some of the lowest paid, least protected and most vulnerable in the province.

To what extent can we claim our food system to be sustainable? What needs to be implemented to reach social sustainability in our food system, both locally and globally?

Speakers include CCPA-BC research associates Gerardo Otero and David Fairey; Colette Cosner, executive director of the Domestic Fair Trade Association; Fr. Patrick Murphy, director of Casa del Migrante in Tijuana; and Mark Thompson, professor at UBC's Sauder School of Business.
