The evening highlights both the work of ArtQuake, a Vancouver-based youth-led movement that is using art to shake up the roots of democracy, and the exclusive Vancouver preview of the internationally acclaimed documentary, Pirates of Salé. Filmed in the seaside city of Salé, on the edge of some of the country’s poorest slums, the film follows the transformation of four young Moroccan acrobats as they journey towards careers with the country’s first professional circus troupe.
