EITHER WE TALK OR WE DON’T TALK

Director Ben Ratner and actor Loretta Walsh bring together 8 of Vancouver’s most daring actors for an edgy and inspiring piece of original theatre

Two shows only on July 17th & 18th at Studio 1398 on Granville Island

The Promotion PeopleKindred Entertainment is pleased to announce that writer/director/actor/producer Ben Ratner (Down River) and actor/producer Loretta Walsh (When Calls the Heart) have teamed up again to bring together 8 true stories for an original piece of theatre entitled EITHER WE TALK OR WE DON’T TALK. Two shows only, directed by Ratner, will be performed on July 17thand 18th at Studio 1398 on Granville Island. The cast of this hard-hitting collaboration (Danny Wattley, Loretta Walsh, Kirkland Douglas, Penny Ray, Stefania Indelicato, Jerry Trimble, Amara Kremblewski and Christopher Talbot) wrote and will perform intensely intimate stories from their own lives. The individual stories are brought to life by the entire ensemble, all of who perform multiple characters and provide sound effects and music, using only their voices and bodies. Background: In February 2015, 10 actors came together at Haven Studio to tell true stories. The plan was to create an original piece of theatre, while documenting the whole experience for a feature length documentary. With Ben Ratner collaborating with the actors to write the play and perform their stories and Rob Wenzek directing the documentary – the process started. After many, many hours of tears, laughs, meltdowns and throw downs, and the inevitable ebb and flow of life, 8 actors remain in the project. In June 2015, the 6-month process ultimately came to fruition with a play called Either We Talk or We Don’t Talk. The first performance was a one-night-only event filmed for the documentary Big Feelings, the story of this group’s journey from concept to performance, and how this creative process has helped these performers transform their often traumatic stories into empowerment for themselves and their audience.

The one-night-only show sold out immediately and the audience was wildly enthusiastic. Due to overwhelming demand, the ensemble is excited to be remounting the show for an additional two nights.
