Famous Artists Limited is proud to present the Vancouver premiere of Bad Jews, Joshua Harmon’s present-day story of three twenty-something Jewish cousins drawn together in New York after the death of the family’s favourite grandfather. Beloved “Poppy” came through the Holocaust in a camp hiding his gold Chai pendant from the guards, and then used it to propose to his wife. But now, Poppy has passed on, and that treasured heirloom is up for grabs. Which of his three grandchildren is the most deserving? Which one of them is the “best” Jew?

Is it the religious and cultural zealot Daphna, who changed her name from Diana? What about her privileged cousin Liam, who missed Poppy’s funeral to go skiing with his non-Jewish girlfriend, Melody? Or, perhaps, Liam’s brother, Jonah, the quiet one who would prefer not to get involved in the fight?

With a powerhouse professional cast of four under the direction of Canadian favourite, Jay Brazeau, Bad Jews is a one-act play that delivers 100 minutes of crackling, edgy energy, biting humour and a chance to consider questions of faith, race, culture and decorum.

Accessible to everybody – although there is some nasty language – this is your chance to see one of the biggest hits and best works of recent theatre in an intimate setting.

One of the most produced plays in North America and a long-running hit in New York and London, Bad Jews opens for a limited run at the Norman Rothstein Theatre this November 10th – 21st.

Don’t miss this stellar production – it is truly a “must-see”! Tickets are on sale now!
