Fostering Resiliency and Connection Through a Traditional Indigenous Lens

This engaging and inspiring workshop will provide a unique lens into the importance of focusing on resiliency in our work with Indigenous peoples. We will begin with an overview on how stress & trauma impacts wellness and the importance of understanding this when working with Indigenous peoples. We will look at our history as Indigenous people in Canada and how this history continues to influence the wellness of our families, communities and nations. We will explore the 4 Blankets of Resiliency: Strong sense of self; family; community; culture, language and connection to the land.

Following the morning session, the afternoon will focus on deepening the learning of the History of Aboriginal People's of Canada, as well as dialogue about how it connects to individuals, businesses, and the larger Canadian and International communities. This part of the day session is the active and participatory learning piece. It requires everyone's energy and expertise in the room to co-create a safe and engaging environment to have meaningful conversations that move the dialogue of reconciliation forward. The co-creation of the dialogue is rooted in traditional Indigenous ways of connecting, sharing, and learning.
It is important to us that this learning is available to everyone. If the cost is a barrier to your participation, please contact us for a 'creative tuition' conversation. We do our best to be as accessible as we can.
