Soul-stirring dance electronica grooves meet India's ecstatic chant tradition resulting in a spiritually charged music fusion that is KIRTRONICA. Imagine a beautiful altar, dazzling laser lights and insatiably danceable music infused with devotion and you've got it. The heavenly voices of Jaya Lakshmi and Ananda swirl you on a mystical journey and the spirit of Ananda's bansuri flute playing transcending you into the ethers.

Just Dance founder and co-resident DJ Abheeru will open the night with a serving of scrumpious global sounds, and DJ Raghunath Khe will close things off with some equally succulent sonic selections!

KIRTRONICA (Jaya Lakshmi & Ananda)

‘Kirtronica’ is a term for a new genre of music that is currently being established in the yoga world which is electronic dance music combined with live Sanskrit/Indian chanting and singing over it. Jaya Lakshmi was one of the pioneers of ‘Kirtronica’ with her previous band “Lost at Last”, founded in Maui, Hawaii in 1997. Over the last few years Jaya Lakshmi has composed original electronic music using Ableton Live. Similar to the the Lost at Last sound, her new music is a mixture of house and tribal trance beats, with (recordings of) acoustic instruments like tabla, guitar, flute, and sarod. In the current duo format, Jaya Lakshmi sings live while Ananda runs Ableton Live. They lead the audience through an ecstatic dance journey that awakens their shakti, inspiring devotional trance states and deepening their connection with the divine.

ABHEERU

Founder of Just Dance and a DJ known for taping into an extensive palette of genres and styles from far-reaching locations around the world. His main passion is to infuse and mix in a wide-range of musical organic elements and instruments from many diverse cultures and to blend those with delectable modern dance beats. The results are exquisitely creative dance tracks that will keep your dancing soul and shoes happy. Proudly serving the community by creating over 500 community events that have welcomed over 45,000 dancers, Abheeru delights in offering gathering that are open, safe and vibrant.

RAGHUNATH KHE

Raghunath has been an intrinsic part of the evolving intentional dance culture for over 20 years. An innovative producer and dj, he is interested in the transformational properties of music and movement, connection and community. He has released three solo albums under various guises, and has contributed musically and otherwise to many festivals and events, both local and international. He is a student of many spiritual traditions, having trained in both North America and India, and an initiate in the line of bhakti, tantra, and shamanic practice. He regularly performs, teaches, and organizes events in the Vancouver area of Canada. He is the co-founder of the Full Moon Medicine gatherings held in the lower mainland of BC, and co-resident dj at Vancouver's long-running Just Dance. A long-time radio presence, he is currently the host and producer of Mantra Radio on CiTR 101.9fm in Vancouver.

VJ KASHUB

Kashub's name stems from the tribe of his ancestry situated along what is now the Baltic Coast of Poland. The tribe, now dispersed and displaced, lived peacefully isolated amidst sand dunes and swamps along the Baltic since before the dawn of the State of the Teutonic Order some 800 years ago. VJ Kashub brings powerful visual projections to induce a spiritual scene so as to reacquaint long lost souls of his ancestry onto our dance floor.
