Steve Newton's secret musical career

As I was luging down the information superhighway, I hit a mogul.

It turned out to be what I believe to be a home video by none other than the Straight's own Time Out editor Steve Newton.

After all, it says that it's by the Newton Family. And he is a music reviewer so this must be his secret music project.

Plus, he recently took vacation time off to spend with his kids so this must be what they worked on.

There's a guy in there that kinda looks like Steve, but I can't be completely sure. Maybe it's the lighting.

I refuse to testify on the grounds that it might incriminate me.

I was pretty sure that one of the members of this band was Tex Haper, the "New Wave Country" guy.

On closer inspection, though, I was obviously just fooled by the standard-issue late '70s/early '80s mustache.

Anyways, as everyone knows, Steve Newton actually moonlights as the singer of the Soundtrack of Our Lives.

I don't see a striking resemblance, to be quite honest, apart from the beard. And the beer gut. And the fabulous knee socks.

The song by the Newton Family is kinda like ABBA sings "Ra-Ra-Rasputin". What's up with that?
