Glenn Frey tries to inspire at the Eagles' concert in Vancouver

"Good evening everyone", announced Glenn Frey to the crowd at GM Place just minutes after the Vancouver Canucks beat Chicago. "There will be a game six. Makes for a much more festive evening, doesn't it?" Hopefully he's right, because four songs in and it's been a pretty uneventful gig. Joe Walsh still looks rockin' though.

Georgia Straight music writer Steve Newton is posting items of interest from tonight's (May 9) Eagles' concert at GM Place in Vancouver. Check out the full review tomorrow at www.straight.com/music.

Are you kidding?? Where were you? That was an AMAZING concert and the sound, for once, was fantastic! All the hits, all the high notes - these guys were rocking!!!

Why would The Straight get someone who clearly is not a fan of The Eagles review their concert??

I saw the concert May 10 and it was AWESOME!! I have been an Eagles fan my whole life and this was the first time I've seen them in concert. It was worth the wait.

I know music and performing. The Eagle's looked bored - no personality or smiles that they were glad to be here and glad to see all of us. They didn't break a sweat in 3 hours of playing. I don't think they care any more (did they ever?)
I was bored. Felt more like a symphony recital than a rock concerts. I know rock concerts and this was lacking on nearly all levels.
