Christie Blatchford finds a new home

    1 of 1 2 of 1

Today, veteran columnist Christie Blatchford's first article appeared in the Vancouver Sun after she left the Globe and Mail to join Postmedia.

But the Toronto-based daily is still listing her on its website (until the bosses read this) as "one of the Globe's premier columnists".

Blatchford, one of the early standard bearers at the National Post, is better suited to write for Postmedia. I base this on her propensity for glorifying Canada's military efforts in Afghanistan and her passion for dishing up gory details about sensational crimes committed by notorious scumbags.

She has her admirers. There are lots of readers who can't hear enough about serial killers like Paul Bernardo and Russell Williams, but I'm not one of them.

Most of the time, I bypassed her Globe columns in search of more intellectually stimulating writers, such as Lawrence Martin and Doug Saunders.

@ Mike - After her vicious, post-election attack on Jack Layton (which I suspect was written in advance in case the NDP held the balance of power after teh election) I'm not surprised at all.

Since it referred to Jack's last letter, I doubt Christie could have written her Layton piece in advance. What I would like to know is WHY she "defected" from the G&M, if she actually didso.
