It's been nearly one year since the Leafly Comedy Tour first kicked off in the United States, and on Friday, Vancouver will get its own taste of the free, cannabis-themed showcase.
The show will be headlined by comedienne Nikki Glaser, host of the Comedy Central Series, Not Safe with Nikki Glaser, whose standup special, Perfect, first aired on the same network back in April.
Opening acts will be performed by Brendan Wardell, Kyle Kinane, and Ivan Decker.
The comedy tour is hosted by Leafly, the self-described "Yelp of cannabis", which offers information, resources, reviews and news for cannabis strains and dispensaries.
In a press release, Leafly staff explained that the goal of the event is to rise above comedy stereotypes often associated with marijuana, while doling out laughs and and up-to-date information about cannabis.
“The majority of Canadians agree on cannabis legalization and this tour has truly illustrated the mainstream nature of cannabis,” said Kayla Cook, Leafly’s director of events and sponsorship in the release.
“Leafly has loved bringing cannabis information and laughter to such a diverse crowed of comedy-enthusiasts across North America. We’ve come a long way since Cheech and Chong.”
To score a free ticket to the event, those who wish to attend are required to RSVP in advance.
Tickets will be distributed at the door on a first come, first served basis, with the number of available tickets limited to the capacity of the venue.
It all goes down this Friday (December 9) at the Vogue Theatre. Doors open at 8 p.m., and the show will begin at 9 p.m.
