      The ninth annual CelticFest Vancouver kicks off March 9 and brings Celtic music, dance, and culture to various venues across the Lower Mainland until March 17.

      This year, events will take place at the Village on False Creek (1693 Manitoba Street), the Vogue Theatre (918 Granville Street), Vancouver FanClub (1050 Granville Street), Venue (881 Granville Street), Doolin’s Irish Pub (654 Nelson Street), The Cellar (1006 Granville Street), Tom Lee Music (929 Granville Street), Ceili’s Irish Pub and Restaurant (670 Smithe Street), Johnnie Fox’s Irish Snug (1033 Granville Street), and Mahony & Sons Public House (various locations).

      CelticFest Vancouver offers more than 70 free and ticketed concerts and events across nine days, starting with a kick-off celebration called Celts on the Creek at the Village on False Creek.  Other not-to-be-missed events include comedian Brendan Grace on March 9, a double-billing featuring Cape Breton’s Mary Jane Lamond and Wendy MacIsaac with Scotland’s Maeve Mackinnon on March 14, and a ceilidh on March 16. Additionally, the Celtic village will take over Granville Street with free music, fare, and fun on March 16 and 17, with the St. Patrick’s Day Parade closing out festivities on March 17 at 11 a.m.
