Existing in an artificial environment or aquarium is a prison sentence no living being should suffer. Animals and mammals like this otter kept in prolonged captivity are for man's amusement and convenience, being on display for profit. What message does this send children? Teaching children about how man could understand the environment and "the Nature of Things" would be more educational and should be part of school curriculum throughout the world. There is too much distance between man and nature and the environment. Animals and mammals need to have their natural habitats protected from global climate warming. Man is only one species sharing Earth.

May all beings be happy, healthy and free. May the happiness, health and freedom of our lives contribute to the happiness, health and freedom for all beings.

This otter was rescued from Alaska after her mother couldn't be located. She was only a month old and had no one to teach her how to survive in the wild. If she was not taken into human care, the rescue centre in Alaska would have had to euthanize her because she did not have the skills to forage and fend for herself. So the choice was between captivity or death. Not between captivity and freedom.

@Dianne: rescued or captured this otter exists in an artificial environment called an aquarium or circus and is on public display for people who pay money to see her.
