Toronto artist Heather Hermant presents ribcage: this wide passage at the Firehall Arts Centre (280 East Cordova Street) from March 3 to 8.

The show tells the true story of the first Jewish woman to land in Canada. Esther Brandeau arrived in Canada in 1738 dressed as a Christian male labourer going by the name Jacques La Fargue. She was outed on both counts and brought before the authorities. As Jewish migrants were forbidden at the time, she was ejected from the country.

Tickets to ribcage: this wide passage are $16 to $32 and can be purchased online in advance.
