Vancouver Writers Fest artistic director Hal Wake has always been able to spot rising stars in the literary world.

So it shouldn't come as a huge surprise that the 2013 Man Booker Prize winner, Eleanor Catton, is part of this month's lineup.

The 28-year-old Catton, who was born in London, Ontario, was named yesterday as winner of the Booker—one of the world's most prestigious literary awards—for her novel The Luminaries. It's an 832-page saga set during the 19th-century gold rush in New Zealand.

The timing of the award couldn't have been better for Wake.

Today, the Vancouver Writers Fest announced that Catton, who lives in Auckland, will appear at a third event. It has been added to the schedule at 10:30 a.m. on October 27.

Tickets are available for An Hour With Elizabeth Catton by calling 604-629-8849 or by going to VancouverTix.com/.

Catton, who was nominated for a 2013 Governor General's Literary Award, is already scheduled to appear at Grand Openings: the Alma Lee Opening Night Event at the Vancouver Writers Fest.

It takes place at Performance Works at 8 p.m. on Tuesday (October 22) and includes writers Joseph Boyden, Sahar Delijani, Viola Di Grado, Rachel Kushner, Earl Lovelace, and Andrew Pyper.

Catton is also scheduled for another event at Performance Works, The Afternoon Tea, at 3:30 p.m. on October 27. She'll appear alongside David MacFarlane, Claire Mulligan, Mary Novik, Chad Pelley, and Maria Semple.
