      The 10th annual CelticFest Vancouver takes place March 8 to 16 at various Vancouver venues. The festival features music, dance, theatre, revelry, spectacle, and more celebrating traditional and contemporary Celtic culture over nine days.

      CelticFest offers a mix of free and ticketed events. This year’s highlights include the Irish Edge at Rickshaw Theatre (254 East Hastings Street) on March 8, which features Irish five-piece acoustic band Hermitage Green in their Canadian debut, and Vancouver’s Vagabonds, known for their high-energy Celtic rock; Ceili’s Kitchen Party at Ceili’s Modern Irish Pub (670 Smithe Street) on March 13; the CelticFest 10th anniversary gala on March 14 at the Vogue Theatre (918 Granville Street), which features Newfoundland band The Once, Juno Award-winning banjo player Jayme Stone’s Lomax Project, Celtic music firebrands The Paperboys, and Irish sensation Hermitage Green; and the CelticFest Ceilidh at Vancouver FanClub (1050 Granville Street) on March 15.

      Other events include A Whisky Kiss, a scotch-tasting event at the Cellar; APPLAUSE! Musicals Society’s Something Sort of Grandish, a revue of Celtic-themed musicals and show tunes; Celts on the Creek, a free afternoon of music at The Village on False Creek; the Celtic Village and Street Market, which takes over downtown Granville Street on March 15 and 16; and CelticFest Workshops at Tom Lee Music.
