The Summer Olympics have ended and Vancouver wasn't included on a New York Times list of six former host cities worth visiting.

But hey, our town is still the site of Amercas Masters Games, which continue until September 4.

Sport B.C. with the support of the City of Vancouver, Vancouver Hotel Destination Association, B.C. Pavilion Corporation, and Tourism Vancouver are welcoming athletes 30 years and over to compete in the Americas region of the World Masters Games. For a full list of events, go here.

According to the website, these Games are designed "to promote the 'Sport for All' philosophy of the Olympic Charter".

This explains why the Olympic Cauldron will be lit in Jack Poole Plaza this weekend.

Update: Below, you can see a tweet that went out after the opening ceremony.
