The Georgia Straight proudly sponsors the Monsoon Festival of Performing Arts

From August 6 to 13, the Monsoon Festival of Performing Arts hits various Vancouver venues.

Presented by the South Asian Arts Society, the festival celebrates the monsoon season through dance, music, and theatre.

The broadly focused South Asian performing-arts event features workshops, one-woman play Burq Off!, and Indian classical dance drama Malavika, presented in partnership with dance troupe Nrityenakatha.

Participating venues include the York Theatre, Surrey Arts Centre, Vancity Culture Lab, and the Kwantlen Polytechnic University's Surrey campus.
