      On October 29, 3 p.m., Early Music Vancouver presents Monteverdi's opera Orfeo at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts (6265 Crescent Road, UBC).

      GRAMMY award-winner and Monteverdi specialist Stephen Stubbs will lead Pacific MusicWorks and tenor Colin Balzer in an in-concert performance of the work, considered to be an early operatic masterpiece.

      Orfeo includes rich orchestration and a host of exotic instruments and balances themes of jubilation and tragedy.
