Should Christy Clark thank John Cummins for narrow by-election win?

    1 of 1 2 of 1

John Cummins, the soon-to-be leader of the B.C. Conservative Party, has congratulated Christy Clark on her narrow victory in the Vancouver-Point Grey by-election.

On Wednesday night (May 11), Cummins tweeted: "Congratulations for Premier Clark in winning her seat in the Legislature. A very tight race, indeed."

Clark hasn't replied yet. She hasn't tweeted since her post on Tuesday (May 10) reminding voters when the polls would be open.

Here's my suggestion for Clark's next tweet: "@CumminsforBC Thanks for helping me get elected in Vancouver-Pt Grey. I owe you one! #vpg11"

Clark beat the NDP's David Eby by around 600 votes, according to the initial count.

If the B.C. Conservatives had fielded a candidate—maybe even Cummins, who doesn't have a seat in the legislature—it might have been enough to make Eby the MLA for Vancouver-Point Grey.

I think Premier Christy Clark should thank the NDP for running David Eby. Had Patti Bacchus or Mel Lehan run either one of these NDP stalwarts most likely would have won. They would have focused on issues instead of constantly whining as Mr Eby did throughout the campaign.

Thanks @JamieLee for another comment only meant to deceive and confuse the average voter. The New Democrats David Eby's loss was an even bigger loss for Christy Clark, as she admitted today that she probably won't run again in Pt. Grey. What a slap in the face to point grey voters!

Nobody thinks the BC Conservatives haven't been taken over by BC Liberals? John Cummins supported the HST and now pretends to rail against it. His gang came into the BC Conservative Party to make sure Chris Delaney did not win the leadership of the BC Conservative Party and the conservative wing of Fight HST. Don't believe the pillow fight for a second since the BC Cons and the BC Libs are working together.

Blake - though I agree with the spirit of your comments, particularly as this relates to Chris Delaney - I believe that John Cummins represents Stephen Harper's desire to take over from the BC Liberals with the BC Conservatives.

We all know Campbell works for Harper, we have seen their love in photo shoots many times. Campbell's face just beams, when he is in Harper's presence. They have a, very special close relationship. Harper even gave a speech, in the BC Legislature. They would travel together. Went to a BBQ together. Went to the Olympics together.

Campbell did a lot of Harper's dirty work for him. Harper even had the gall, to chastise the BC people for, forcing his partner in crime to resign. No matter to Harper, what Campbell's insanity did to the BC people.

Campbell and Harper have been working together, to put Canada into the N.A.U. The American citizens are dead set against it. They want to keep their country sovereign and free, as do we Canadians want our country sovereign and free.

It is very difficult to see, where the BC Liberal party starts and the BC Conservative party ends. They are one and the same. Both party's,are a lying, thieving pack of criminals, out to destroy this country.

This wasn't a Lib win so much as it was a warning, given the 600 vote margin in a supposedly safe riding.

And Cummins. The obvious is that she has a political tab with him that's going to be due at some point. The question now, though, is what's his price going to be when he asks her to cash it in and will she balk?

Christy has to go to early provincial vote/even if she loses - in a year Cummins and BC Conservatives will be too strong for her to contend with--and she may suffer a major embarassment.
