If you’ve spent any time on TikTok over the past two years, there is a high chance you’ve heard David Kushner’s sultry voice and emotionally-charged lyrics.

With the release of his single “Daylight” (which has over a billion plays on Spotify), a new TikTok trend was born: people posted videos and photos of themselves looking happy, then cutting to their partners, with the caption, “You look happier; what happened?” to indicate that love was the reason they were smiling.

Continuing to gain momentum for his ability to connect with audiences, the Chicago singer-songwriter’s newest single, “Hero”, taps into the complicated relationship with one’s self and the personal narrative of knowing that you may be the villain in someone else’s story.

“‘Hero’ is the story of acceptance towards the pain of your inner child,” shares Kushner in a release. Along with the new single, Kushner has announced a headlining North American tour with a stop in Vancouver at the Malkin Bowl after notable festival appearances at Bonnaroo and the Reading and Leeds Festivals in England.
