Although there’s no evidence he’s actually killed anybody, Donald Trump’s gleeful rape of the Scottish countryside—while building “the world’s greatest golf course” on one of Europe’s last wilderness coastlines—hoists him pretty far up in the global-felony department.

Obviously, you don’t get to simply destroy a Site of Special Scientific Interest (as designated by the U.K.’s environmental-protection code) all by yourself. Although the actual mechanics of corruption are beyond the scope of You’ve Been Trumped, Aberdeen resident Anthony Baxter did what he could as a first-time filmmaker to capture the spread of evil as it came to northeast Scotland.

While new and, frankly, disturbing footage was shot over a five-year period, Baxter also uses highly appropriate snippets of Bill Forsyth’s 1983 film Local Hero, which was about a Texas oilman attempting to buy up the same Aberdeenshire stretch of wild dunes and fishing coves.

The chosen scenes don’t quite reach the plot point where Peter Riegert’s yes man and big boss Burt Lancaster get turned around by the place’s charming eccentricity. That’s because this story won’t turn out that way, and Trump doesn’t give a shit about things like that. With his money and pride at stake, there’s nothing to stop everybody’s favourite birther from going on Scottish TV to insult the few local heroes who refuse to hand him the keys to their family homesteads. Reality on the ground would include shutting off their water, building towers of dirt around them, and arresting anyone—including the filmmaker—who stands up to the Donald’s lackeys.

Bolstered by Sigur Rós’s haunting music, the rough-hewn movie is guaranteed to get your blood boiling. I just wish that Baxter had—after the fact, at least—documented the specific laws Trump supposedly broke and which politicians helped him—anything to help send this beady-eyed bastard some place where combs, and comb-overs, aren’t allowed.
