Today, social-media networks are buzzing about Elon Musk hosting Saturday Night Live.

Part of the reason is that the Tesla CEO and Space-X founder actually made news by revealing that he's neurodiverse.

"I'm actually making history tonight as the first person with Asperger's to host SNL," Musk said. "Or at least the first to admit it. So I won't be make a lot of eye contact with the cast tonight."

After mentioning that his goals include creating a renewable-energy future and humanity becoming a multiplanetary space-bearing civilization, he conceded that not everyone is thrilled with everything he's written on Twitter.

"To anyone I've offended, I just want to say I reinvented electric cars and I'm sending people to Mars in a rocket ship," Musk said, eliciting plenty of laughs. "Did you think I was also going to be a chill, normal dude?"

He also cracked a joke about driving a Prius.

You can watch the entire monologue in the video below.

Asperger's syndrome is considered to be part of the autism spectrum disorder and the cause is unknown.

Named after Austrian pediatrician Hans Asperger, it's associated with a set of symptoms that include impairment of social interaction and intense interest in narrow subjects.

This social awkwardness has not prevented some from making great achievements. It's not uncommon in the tech world—and there has even been speculation online that Microsoft cofounder Bill Gates and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg might have mild forms of Asperger's.

On Monday (May 10), investors in Tesla will learn if Elon Musk's SNL appearance will improve the stock's performance.
