Your horoscope for August 7 - 13, 2008
The sun is traversing the middle portion of Leo the Lion. Leo is a fixed fire sign, and we are in the middle of the summer. The heat is on, in more ways than one.
The sun moves toward an opposition with Neptune, which will take place on August 15—within one day of the lunar eclipse on August 16. Full-moon lunar eclipses are themselves a handful to cope with, and when we throw Neptune into the configuration, things can get smoky, shaky, and just a little out of control.
This energy unfolds on a weekend, and when we factor in alcohol and mind-altering substances, we have the right—or maybe we should say the wrong—mix for all kinds of drama.
Mars and Pluto are in square aspect on August 16. The reason I’m jumping ahead is to give the public and its servants a heads-up about this particular weekend, as it will be quite the dramatic time. Emotions are heightened, dramas play out, and all kinds of deceptions and sleights of hand take place.
News arrives on August 15 that has the power types scrambling for control—or damage control—as the spin masters craft their words and the brass pulls the strings just out of sight.
On August 10, Mercury enters Virgo, meeting up with Venus, Saturn, and Mars in the following days. Mercury is comfortable in Virgo, as he rules this sign and wields his power and influence easily. With four planets visiting Virgo, we may still be in vacation mode. But our hearts and minds may very well be caught up, tied up, and completely involved with what we must do in order to get it all together, sunny weather or not.
A lot of our focus in the days and weeks to come will be on how we put things together, and how we can divide our time into properly balanced segments.
March 21 - April 19
Out of all the signs, Aries has the hardest time sticking to any type of mundane task. “It’s so boring and tedious,” you say. You may surprise yourself now as you dig into the task at hand—enthusiastically, for a change. August is the time to make all right.
April 20 - May 21
The first-quarter square of the moon on August 8 may spur you to action, as the time for ruminating has passed. The August stars bode well for Taurus. Take advantage of this by moving toward your goals with confidence and fortitude.
May 22 - June 20
Something deep within has awakened, and your spirit wants to attend to the matters that weigh heavily on your heart. August 9 to 11 are just the right days to do this. A move may be in store, and you could be adjusting to all kinds of realities.
June 21 - July 23
It’s time to come out of your shell and explore a bit. Times with friends and family are well spent, and you may be anxious to delve into books, write a book, or make forays regarding your recent interests. Health and hygiene could be high on the list.
July 24 - August 23
“Reality jumped out the window last night and hasn’t been seen since.” As odd as this sounds, it may convey the energy of the times. Great magical and mystical experiences could come to pass, particularly around the lunar eclipse on August 16. The days leading up to it are days of wonder; afterward, you may ponder where they went.
August 24 - September 23
The hordes are at the gates. Okay, maybe not exactly, but you may feel you are under siege—possibly by your own doing. It is a time of intense effort and action, which you may not mind. It’s important to pace yourself; read the introduction to this column.
September 20 - October 23
It’s time to seek and achieve balance in all that you do. The 12th house of your solar chart is loaded up throughout August, bringing up all kinds of issues from the past to be dealt with. Someone from the past shows up around August 13, possibly in the guise of a new love.
October 24 - November 22
It’s a bit of a strange time, and it may be hard to know which way to go. It could be wise to let things play out over the course of the next few days, as much is destined to occur. August 7 and 8 are very dynamic days when high energy and a certain flow bring you through in style.
November 23 - December 21
Tension in the workplace plays out. A power struggle takes place, and all kinds of interesting scenarios develop. The moon passes through Sagittarius from August 9 to 11, at first bringing tension and concern, but by August 11 a new day will dawn, chock full of opportunities. Careers end and begin.
December 22 - January 20
Your solar ninth house of travel is strongly activated. You have to ask yourself what the travel is all about, though. If it’s for name and fame that’s one thing, but if it’s a journey within as you seek inner illumination that’s another—one that may be more worthy. It is your time to shine, and blessings continue to be heaped upon you.
January 21 - February 19
A most interesting—if not strange—time has arrived. Life may seem surreal in some way, and you could lose your way, then find it and lose it again. The lunar eclipse on August 16 occurs in your sign, and tells of a time in which all kinds of weird, wonderful, and wacky experiences may come to pass.
February 20 - March 21
With four planets moving through your opposite sign, Virgo, in the days to come, you may feel a bit stretched with way too much to do. You may also have to deal with some inconsiderate types, and there will be all kinds of opportunities to exercise love, patience, and compassion.
