Two men murdered in Surrey, including one inside a McDonald's restaurant

The  Integrated Homicide Investigation Team  has released information regarding two murders in Surrey this weekend.

A 22-year-old  man was stabbed in Cloverdale and died from his injuries in hospital at 6 a.m.  today (March 28).

RCMP were called to the  neighbourhood at 4:20 a.m. after an altercation in an alley off 192 Street and 71 Avenue.

Several people were arrested and brought in for questioning, according to an IHIT news release.

Police will conduct inquiries in the neighbourhood throughout the day and into tomorrow  as part of the  investigation.

The second murder occurred at a McDonald's restaurant at the corner of 110 Avenue and Scott Road in North Surrey  during the Saturday (March 27) dinner period.  The suspect fled on foot.

RCMP arrived on the scene and learned that that two males near the rest rooms got involved in  an altercation. One male shot the other. The victim is a male in his mid-20s; the suspect has been described as a male in his 20s with a scruffy beard and dark clothing, according to the IHIT.

Restaurant staff helped the shooting victim, who was pronounced dead on the scene by ambulance staff.

"At this point of the investigation it appears as though the victim was targeted by the suspect," the IHIT stated in a news release.  "It does not appear as though staff at the restaurant were in harms way of the suspect."

Anyone with information on either murder is asked to call IHIT TIP Line at 1-877-551-IHIT.  Those who wish anonymity are asked to  call CRIMESTOPPERS at 1-800-222-TIPS.
