Why do politicians think it's a good idea to hit the campaign trail wearing the team jersey of whatever town they're visiting?

Maybe they just want to make it easy for us to bring you another edition of Caption the Campaign Photo.

This Liberal Party of Canada image depicts Michael Ignatieff during a campaign rally in North Vancouver on April 17.

It's a good thing for Iggy that the Toronto Maple Leafs didn't make the playoffs, or he might be feeling the wrath of the voters of Etobicoke-Lakeshore on election day.

Taking a stand for truthful news reporting, I feel like this article doesn't depict the whole story. As a participant of yesterday's Liberal rally in North Vancouver, I was standing next to Ignatieff when he received his jersey from an avid Liberal supports and proud Canucks fan. What would you do if someone gave you an official Luongo jersey on camera in Ignatieff's shoes? Fill that caption ;)

Francesca, you really think that was spontaneous? These things are scripted to the T. The "avid Liberal supports [sic] and proud Canucks fan" giving Iggy the jersey was planned. These big campaigns aren't as grassroots as they make you think it is.
