Vancouver’s Company 605 and Theatre Replacement have announced a rebrand for their annual PushOFF festival. Now called HOLD ON LET GO, the debut of this newly imagined event (and the 14th year of it overall) will take place January 23 to 27 and January 30 to February 2, 2024 at The Russian Hall.

Dedicated to showcasing the best and brightest in contemporary performance—from dance to theatre to a hybrid of the two—HOLD ON LET GO promises experimentation, bending of genres, and artistic exhilaration in its curated selection of shows.

“The name comes from the saying, ‘hold on tightly, let go lightly,’ and signifies our desire to embrace change, continue evolving and learning, and to hold on to the things that matter, while letting go where we can,” says Theatre Replacement artistic director Maiko Yamamoto in a statement. “It’s the juxtaposition of two ideas that for us, encapsulates this moment and our hopes and dreams for the future.”

Part one features works from artists including Vancouver’s own interdisciplinary group Hong Kong Exile and Victoria-based performing artist Adrienne Wong. Part two will focus on new pieces from both Theatre Replacement and Company 605.
