FIFA and Soccer Canada have announced that Vancouver and B.C. Place Stadium have been selected as the venue for the 2015 Women’s World Cup championship final. The game will be played July 5, 2015.

Vancouver will also host eight group-stage games throughout June 2015 leading to the finale. The women’s World Cup consists of 24 teams in the single largest all-female sporting competition on the planet. Last year, Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Montreal, and Moncton were chosen as host cities for the event. But today, Vancouver won the right to host the championship final.

In 2011 in Germany, Japan defeated the U.S. to win the last women’s World Cup crown.
