Live Nation has announced that American psychobilly group Reverend Horton Heat will perform at the Commodore Ballroom--with guests Old Man Markley--on Wednesday, January 8, 2014, in support of its upcoming album, Rev.

Reverend Horton Heat, the stage name of frontman Jim Heath, built a strong cult following during the '90s through constant touring, manic showmanship, and a twisted sense of humor.

The band is set to release Rev, its eleventh studio album, on January 21, 2014.

Tickets for the 19+ show are priced at $23 (plus service charges and fees) and go on sale this Friday (October 4) at 10 a.m. on the Live Nation website.

Tickets are also available for purchase by phone at 1-855-985-5000, at Red Cat and Highlife Records, and at all Ticketmaster outlets.

The Reverend tours relentlessly these days...

Last year when he was playing Friday and Saturday shows at the Red Room, I decided at the last moment to go check him out again, despite the $40 ticket price. I arrived just as the show was starting and followed behind a group of smokers heading back inside. The doormen just waived me in with them so in no time I had a drink in hand and was having a great time. But the next day felt a little guilty so I decided to go again for the Saturday show with the full intention of forking over the $40 bucks. I figured the $20 average was justifiable. Anyways, as luck (and stupidity) would have it, I got waived in again under the exact same circumstances!

So I've since felt doubly guilty... not sure if this should be a Confessions post but I'm sure I'll be paying for my ticket this time.
