      Angry crowd at park board  Kitsilano residents expressed frustration at the Vancouver park board over a plan to pave parts of Hadden Park and Kitsilano Beach Park; commissioners have approved an advisory board to offer input.

      Kindergarten touching ban  Langley's Coghlan Fundamental Elementary has prohibited kindergarten students from touching each other, provoking outrage among some parents. 

      RCMP will speak about UBC assaults  At noon today, the Mounties will hold a news conference to bring the public up to date on their investigation into six sexual assaults on UBC's Point Grey campus since April.

      Business school pays for counsellor  After UBC commerce students rejected a proposal to spend $200,00 over two years to fund sex-abuse counselling, the Sauder School of Business has stepped forward to cover the cost.

      Premiers' meeting kiboshed  Alberta's Alison Redford and B.C.'s Christy Clark have cancelled today's plans to discuss pipelines while Redford is in B.C. The Alberta premier will speak to the Vancouver Board of Trade.

      Medals stolen  CKNW Radio has reported that Vancouver aquarium founder Murray Newman, 89, lost his cherished medals, including the Order of Canada, when a thief broke into his West Vancouver home.

      Doug Ford wants police chief to quit  Beleaguered Toronto mayor Rob Ford's brother Doug, a city councillor, has called for the resignation of the city's chief of police, Bill Blair. The mayor's brother says the chief is biased after he revealed the existence of a tape showing Rob Ford smoking an unknown substance.

      India launches rocket to Mars  Indian officials hope to become the first developing country to send a satellite to Mars. It took off from the east coast of the country and is expected to reach the red planet in 2014.

      Tip line for doping athletes  The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sports has created a doping hotline (1-800-710-1127) to allow anyone to make anonymous reports about athletes who use performance-enhancing drugs.

      Canucks play Coyotes  The Vancouver Canucks are looking for their 11th victory of the season tonight in Phoenix. The puck drops at 6 p.m.

      Charlie Sheen's fight gets messier   TMZ has reported that Brooke Mueller's lawyers will go to court to claim that her ex-husband, actor Charlie Sheen, violated a gag order when he claimed that she was a "terrible parent" and a "whore".
