Icy conditions close Vancouver seawall
While snow-dusted trees have made Stanley Park into a winter wonderland since New Year’s Eve, the practicalities of negotiating the park and the seawall have forced City officials to close the popular path.
Choosing to focus their efforts on salting and sanding heavily-used shady sections between second and third beach, safety officers have closed the seawall from Lions Gate to Siwash Rock, due to hazardous conditions.

Given that a number of sidewalks and roads around town have been icy enough to be used for skating and pick-up hockey games, however, it’s probably a good decision.
