George Takei to appear in upcoming Kevin Keller comic

In a move certain to raise the ire of One Million Moms, it’s been revealed that Star Trek star and noted gay activist George Takei will be appearing in an upcoming issue of Archie Comics’ Kevin Keller series (due out this November).

With this cameo, Takei will join the ranks of celebrities like Barack Obama and Sarah Palin, both of whom have also been featured in the popular comics franchise, which tends to favour thinly veiled celebrity parodies. Like this, for example.

According to BuzzFeed, the idea for Takei’s comic-book appearance arose when author Dan Parent approached Takei at a comic convention and pitched him the idea, which will see titular character Kevin Keller (Archie Comics' first openly gay persona) meet his lifelong hero.

      Live long and prosper.
