Men survive encounter with flying car in Vancouver

Update (11:46 a.m.) One of my coworkers tells me that the video in question was put together with an iPhone application called Action Movie FX. The app lets you easily add "car smash" and "missile attack" effects to your clips.

Original post (11:16 a.m.):

This appears to be an attempt by people in Vancouver's cultural scene to make a video go viral.

I received a link to the video "Carstruck" by email from a theatre director and playwright. The message, with the subject "unbelievable video", claimed "this just happened a couple hours ago". Nice try.

The short clip features a local actor and was purportedly recorded by a local filmmaker. On Vimeo, the video's description reads:

Andy Thompson has a near miss with a flying car.

Shot by Kryshan Randel, who also escaped with only minor injuries.

Thank you everyone for all your texts, emails, phone calls, love, support and care during this challenging time.

Will anyone be fooled into thinking the video—perhaps a teaser for a forthcoming project or just a viral video for its own sake—is the real deal?
