The first cannabis dispensary in the world to make a home at a major university opens this week at UBC

The food courts up at UBC campus are going to see a lot more foot traffic in the coming weeks, and that’s likely thanks to the history-making arrival of a new Burb Cannabis shop.

The shop will be the first-ever cannabis dispensary in the world to open its doors on a major university campus.

Burb Cannabis, an international brand touting “BC bud” culture to the rest of the globe, will open its eighth location at 5784 University Boulevard on February 23, offering up a curated selection of cannabis products including flower, pre-rolls, concentrates, topicals, and edibles—just to name a few of the ways one can enjoy the plant.

“This is a significant milestone for our company, not only because it’s our eighth store, the current cap limit in BC for any single retail brand, but also because it’s the first cannabis retail store to open on a major university campus anywhere in the world,” says John Kaye, CEO and co-founder at Burb, in a release.

Well, let’s just say the company certainly knows where its target market hangs out—err, lives and goes to school.

Starting at 10am on February 23, the new location’s opening events include DJs, plus giveaways and exclusive items for new customers.

“Our focus is on offering the best menu possible, with exclusive products you’ll only find at Burb, such the Jellee hand-rolled hash-holes, Book Club Exclusives, and limited-run merchandise and accessories,” Peter Pittson, general manager at Burb UBC and co-founder of Book Club, a cannabis community and products company, says in the release.
