This might sound like I am setting the bar kind of low. But every month that I successfully manage to pay my rent and other bills, I feel proud, and have a sense that I have accomplished something.

It IS an accomplishment to survive without going into debt, or being dependent on family to make ends meet! You should be proud!
I only have to walk half a block from my home to encounter a guy sleeping outside. They look like a version of me who has made some bad choices, or just wasn't as lucky.
