Lessons from detox

I keep hearing from politicians that there are no simple answers for the drug crisis. There is actually. It is actually something recovering addicts like myself have to face at the beginning of ones rehabilitation journey. Admitting "I" was wrong. "I" f*cked up. Until an advocate, expert, politician, policy maker or anyone takes any accountability for tripling our deaths since we bent the curve in 2019 it won't get better. 7500 deaths in 3 years and zero people are accountable for anything and zero people have come out said "I was wrong." Recovering addicts say it. People helping us never do.

I have voted NDP provincially all my adult life. Not this time. If they refuse to take responsibility for these egregious numbers, the people of BC need to MAKE them responsible by voting for ANYONE else.

It takes a lot to speak out and admit your mistakes. You're a role for many people and lead by example. Most politicians never lead by example because saving face is far too important to admit there's a problem. The "war on drugs" is not a real war. It's a massacre on people.

The blameless post mortem

On one hand, I find such reviews allow a mindset of finding the truth and solutions to move forward. However for closure and as a display of leadership it would bring a lot of healing for there to be constructive and supportive accountability. Not for blame, but to speak to what happened, why, and what we learned, so others can also learn.

That's because Canada is governed by internationalists who don't really care a jot about the people they pretend to serve.
