Man photographed peeing on Komagata Maru monument in Vancouver
Vancouver police are investigating an incident that saw a man urinate on the Komagata Maru monument this week, sparking outrage in the South Asian community.
That's according to the Vancouver park board, which issued a statement today (December 5) in response to a Facebook photo that captured the incident in Harbour Green Park at Coal Harbour.
"On behalf of my fellow Commissioners, we are saddened and deeply offended by this disgraceful act,” said Sarah Blyth, chair of the park board. "The monument was created in partnership with the Khalsa Diwan Society to embrace multiculturalism and remind people about the devastating impact that racial intolerance and discrimination have had upon our community.”
Park board staff have cleaned the monument, which was installed in 2012 to commemorate the Komagata Maru incident.
In the 1914 incident, 300 passengers of South Asian descent were denied entry to Canada due to a racist federal law.

Hopefully the person who took this photo also took others so this jerk can be identified and charged.

Authorities ought to be able to identify this idiot with a bit of effort.
Charges, Fines & Public Service for this idiot.
If a group of large Sikhs caught him he would have been lucky to make it to Hospital.
