Canucks winger Chris Higgins will soon be put on waivers.

The team's president, Trevor Linden, revealed this during the broadcast of last night's game against Florida.

The Canucks won 3-2 in overtime on Daniel Sedin's second goal of the game.

Two days ago, the Canucks disclosed that it was "exploring trade options" for Higgins.

"Chris is a quality person who has been an important member of our team for nearly five seasons," Canucks general manager Jim Benning said in a January 10 statement on the team's website. "Our focus has been on finding a positive new situation for him and we will continue to do so.”

This year, the 32-year-old winger has two goals and one assist. He's minus 12 at even strength in 25 games.

His best year offensively with the Canucks was in 2011-12 when he scored 18 goals and 25 assists.
