Get ready for Raincouver at the 2nd annual Umbrella Party!

While you’re enjoying the last sunny days of the summer, it’s important to mentally prepare yourself for the reality of Raincouver, by….

Embracing the rain! in a glorious celebration of International Day of Peace and positive mental health.

Brought to you by Party4Health and SOUNDBOKS, the loudest portable speakers on earth, the organizers claim that it’s more important than ever to come together in the face of raininess and gloom.

“With the rains and clouds, it’s easy to become socially isolated during the fall and winter. And social isolation is arguably the worst thing for your mental health.” claims Jacques Martiquet, the creator of the Umbrella Party.

Jacques cites a landmark study by the Vancouver Foundation in 2012, which found 1 in 4 Vancouverites were alone more than they would like to be.

“Rain has far too often sabotaged plans to get together. Let us teach you to do it anyway.”

On the agenda for the evening is umbrella limbo, rain dances, umbrella sword fights, and Party4Health classics, such as LED Skip Rope, line dancing, and bear hugs.

You are advised to bring your most colorful umbrellas, raincoats, and rubber boots, a positive attitude, and willingness to engage fully with others and music.

The Umbrella Party kicks off a larger city-wide party called the Decentralized Dance Party, happening later that evening. The two events will overlap.

Will the rain stop you from partying?
